1960's Ultra Transistor TR 100, with bluetooth or wifi
Buy it now
This is a great looking transistor radio made in Britain. It's fully working and converted to be used with AA size batteries. The radio has a good reception on all wavelength. These radios were produced between 1958 and 1960 in London by Ultra Ltd. This one however looks like new and has very little signs of use.
I can offer you the following options, to customise this radio:
  1. Genuine radio without any work done,
  2. Radio with bluetooth upgrade,
  3. Radio with Wireless LAN upgrade.

Ultra U6961 Troubadour radio from the 1950, now converted into a modern portable bluetooth speaker.
You can hear it play on Youtube.
Dimensions: (WHD) 31cm x 20cm x 16cm

Weight : 3 kg
Voltage: 12V with external power supply (included)
What I have done:
I replaced the original speaker with a more powerfull 30W, 3 way Sony speaker. The genuine light bulb lights up, when you switch the radio on. It now works on 12V low voltage with an external power supply (included) and can be operated in any country. Whilst the power supply is connected, the batteries are charging. The fully charged battery power pack last for up to 2 hours on max volume. The specification for the Ultra U6961 Troubadour can be viewed here: https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/ultra_u6961u_696.html

The Ultra Troubadour first appeared in 1949 and production continued until 1957, and this U6961 was the third version released in 1953. All were compact AC/DC table radios initially fitted with Mazda valves and then later, like this one, with a complement of Mullard valves. The cabinet is made from urea-formaldehyde which is usually white in colour, it's an earlier plastic than bakelite which only comes in brown or black.
